STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

Nigeria faces a critical healthcare challenge with one of the highest maternal mortality rates (MMR) in the world, ranking third globally. The majority of these deaths are preventable, yet barriers such as limited access to skilled healthcare professionals, inadequate health infrastructure, and low awareness of maternal health persist. Additionally, rural and security-prone areas face compounded challenges, including a lack of basic healthcare facilities and professional medical services. This situation leaves mothers and children in these regions particularly vulnerable, perpetuating cycles of poor health outcomes.

The absence of a centralized medical database exacerbates the issue, as it hampers effective monitoring, data-driven decision-making, and coordination of healthcare services. Furthermore, there is a significant gap in maternal health education, leaving many women unaware of best practices during pregnancy, childbirth, and early childhood care.
